Honda Accord CL9 (k24a3) reflash gain
First up, we have high mileage hero of a CL9 (k24a3) which is the highest mileage car we’ve tuned on a whopping 312,000km!
The mods on this car include:
- a short ram pod filter setup,
- PLM header,
- stock mid-pipe and resonator to a single muffler
- 2.5″ muffler.
On the stock map, she managed to make 142kW at the wheels (Light Blue) with 230Nm (Light Red) of torque (as mentioned yesterday, the ECU is compensating for the better breathing intake and exhaust and the car should only be making around 125kW ATW and 200Nm). Although the car made good power the fuel trims were super high which would affect throttle response and drivability quite substantially.
We loaded our tune into the ECU and did another run and she made 146kW ATW (Dark Blue) with a 254Nm (Dark Red) but there is much more to the story!
You can see from the graph the power delivery is much smoother with no power or torque loss. Due to the change in VTC angles between 2000-3500RPM we see 4kW and a 13Nm bump in torque. VTEC hits at 4000RPM and correlation between the stock map and our map ends and the car is making an extra 20kW and 32Nm of torque at 5500RPM.
Stock VTEC hits at 6000RPM but the battle has been lost already. Peak power is around 6800RPM which is where the RBB intake manifold and stock mid-pipe starts to choke the engine (a 2.5 or 3″ would likely made an extra 5-7kw)
